Hoof Trimming, Beef Cattle, Watson Hoof Trimming, Dickson Simmental

Martin Watson has been trimming cattle for many years and has done a great job for us.  Emily and Josh have 4H steers this year and last Saturday Martin trimmed the feet on both steers.  Below are some photos of one of the steers having its hooves trimmed.  Most livestock need there hooves trimmed to make the animal feel comfortable while they are on their feet and to aid in them being able walk correctly. It does not harm the animal, it is much like you getting your toe nails trimmed.

June 10, 2011 is turning out to be a beautiful day following a little shower this morning.  The calves are looking great.  The attached photo is of our herd number 2 coming in for a drink.

 

Our Donor Jewels Touch is doing a very good job for us.  She is producing some of our most stylish calves. This years bull calf out of Daume Legend M801 is really growing. His EPD’s for growth will be amoung the highest of all of our calves.

Lobster Roast, Trap Shoot, Memorial Day Party, Stouts Tree Farm

We had a lot of fun at the annual lobster roast at Stouts Tree Farm in Utica, Ohio.  The kids enjoyed the trap shoot, swimming, fishing, and the great food.

SVJ Wildfires Dreams dam is DSC Wild Fire- was bred and raised by Dickson Simmental Cattle.  This was the first female that my daughter Emily ever showed at the Ohio State Fair. SVJ Wildfires Dream went on to have a great show career and has sire tremendous cattle over the past few years.
